Dear Pradeepta,
I was very interested in trying out your Leash GPS Tracker application, which my wife and I think would be extremely useful and helpful for the occasional checking in on our daughter just to be able to know where she might be. I know the disclaimer mentioned that “continued use of gps running in the background, can dramatically decrease battery life”, and my question is, does it have to be continually running or can it just run to give a quick check-in, and then “shut-off”? Wouldn’t necessarily need it to run at all times. Don’t want to necessarily sacrifice battery life for this purpose. Thank you.
Hi Brett,
Thanks for your interest in the app. The app does not continuously run in the background. Actually, it is suspended and does consumes the minimum resources that Apple affords to suspended application (which is very very tiny). Only in the event that the phone moves ‘significantly’ (about a 1/4 mile) , does the app wake up and transmit it’s location, after which it goes back to sleep again. This is the optimal solution to ‘background’ process.
Additionally, the app can also be put into an ‘offline’ mode to conserve battery. However, when the app is offline it does not transmit it’s location at all.
I am planning to have another release of the app which will allow you to ‘check-in’ if the app is in offline. In the present version, you can make it check-in by going online and back to offline within 2-3 seconds. In the next version, I will show a button which will allow you to ‘check-in’ when offline.
Hope that helps.

Hello,
I can see you experienced with Twilio.
I currently thinking about a new app using Twilio but have no idea what will go into creating it. Would you be willing to give me some tips?
Please write me back to my email.
